Scandinavian style modern log houses
A Scandinavian-style modern log house is an increasingly popular way to achieve healthy and sustainable living. Our contemporary collection includes dozens of modern, ecological and functional log houses and cabins to choose from.
All our house kits can be tailored to your specific needs, which allows you to actively participate in designing your own home. We can also design a unique home based on your wishes or realise designs already drawn up by your architect.
How to create the SCANDINAVIAN house look
Our contemporary collection incorporates some of the latest trends in modern log house design: large panorama windows, combinations of materials, wide and open living areas and minimalistic, urban details.
Big glass surfaces. The non-settling Honka Fusion™ log wall structure, a Honka innovation, allows us to build bolder and more diverse structures than ever before and easily combine these structures with other materials without the wide architraves and settling spaces required by traditional log houses. We can, for example, include large wall-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors in the Honka Fusion log frame with modern, light mouldings.
Polished, minimalistic details. Cross corners are characteristic to log houses, but many people feel they are a feature of rural landscapes. Our clearly defined, minimalistic Honka Zero Corner™ concept produces log houses that are at ease even in the most urban environments.
Roof Shapes. A variety of roof shapes can be incorporated into modern log house architecture, however, modern designs tend to be simpler and more clear-cut than those used in traditional log homes. Gable roofs are, once again, considered modern and appealing. Shallow shed roofs and flat roofs are also gaining in popularity.
Combinations of materials. Solid wood is used as the load bearing structure in all Honka homes, but the architecture may also combine many other materials, including glass, steel or even stone. Honka Fusion is our very own state-of-the-art concept that allows genuine massive wood to be easily combined with other building materials, without the need for the wide architraves and settling spaces of traditional log houses.
Inspiring interiors. Log frame is the load bearing structure in all of our houses, but it doesn’t mean that all the interiors have to be wood. Wood is at its best when combined with other natural materials.
